What up fam! Emily here. I think we’re going to be great friends. I can feel it. So excited to get to know you.
Here’s the thing you should know about me. Personal finance is my jam. I love money and ALL the money-adjacent topics.
But I wasn’t always so hype about personal finance.
For a long time, I buried my head in the sand because finances felt too complicated. I drifted along, just trying to spend less than I earned. I made note of the people around me who were also drifting – sometimes all the way to retirement age – in jobs they didn’t enjoy to afford lives they didn’t like. After a few years, I looked up just long enough to think, “there HAS to be a better way.” The status quo just wasn’t flipping my trigger. Maybe you feel the same.
Here’s a secret, fam. Most financial institutions benefit from making personal finance EXTREMELY complicated. They tell us we can’t possibly manage our own money without their help and their services (which, you guessed it, cost MONEY). And because financial literacy is rarely a standard chapter in our education curriculum, it’s easy for us all to believe that managing our finances is difficult.
But here’s the truth. It’s not complicated. With a basic understanding of a few easy personal finance principles, I was able to start moving the needle on my own finances. Within just a few years, I made massive progress on my financial goals. I paid off my debt, built an emergency fund, increased my income and started investing.
And now, what I want more than anything in the world? The idea that lights my fire every day? Is for you to have the same clarity, security and POSSIBILITY in your finances and in your life. I want to help you remove the stress and anxiety around money and build a life that makes you feel FULFILLED. With this blog, I’m sharing what I’ve learned so far in my own journey. I also want to jump on your bandwagon and encourage you because I know you CAN do this. My ultimate hope is that you’ll walk away with the motivation and information needed to find financial stability and embrace the possibilities in your life.
